Playground & Kids Play Area Flooring
We install EPDM wet-pour safety surfacing for playgrounds and kids play areas across the UAE, with impact protection, bright colours and easy upkeep.
Play areas need a surface that is safe first and attractive second. We install seamless EPDM wet-pour rubber surfacing, poured on site to the thickness needed for the equipment fall heights, so children are protected during falls while the surface stays smooth, non-slip and easy to clean.
EPDM comes in a wide range of bright colours, which lets us create patterns, pathways, games and themed designs that make a play area genuinely engaging. The colour is through the granule, so it stays vivid, and the seamless finish avoids trip edges and traps far better than loose fill or tiles.
We build the whole system: base preparation and drainage, the cushioning base layer set to the correct depth, and the coloured wear layer with any graphics. For schools and nurseries in particular, we can plan the installation around holiday windows so the area is ready when children return.
Surface options
Play area surfaces
EPDM wet-pour is the standard safety surface. Artificial turf and shock pads suit softer landscaped play zones.
| System | Indoor / outdoor | Typical use | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|
| EPDM Rubber Flooring | Both | Safety surfacing for play equipment | Low |
| Artificial Turf | Outdoor | Soft landscaped play and lawns | Low to medium |
| Shock Pads & Underlays | Outdoor | Extra fall protection beneath turf | None |
| Drainage & Sub-base | Outdoor | Drained, stable base | None |
The build-up
An EPDM play area build-up
- EPDM wear layer. Coloured EPDM rubber granules bound with polyurethane, wet-poured on site.
- SBR base layer. Black rubber cushioning layer set to the required fall-height thickness.
- Binder course. Bonding layer keying the rubber to the base.
- Base. Asphalt, concrete or compacted aggregate base.
- Sub-base & drainage. Free-draining sub-base beneath.

Custom branding
Colours and line marking
Bright colours, pathways, hopscotch, roadways, numbers and themed graphics can all be built into the surface, and school or community colours applied. The colour runs through the granule, so designs stay vivid with use.
UAE conditions
Play surfaces in the UAE
EPDM granules are colour-fast and UV-stable, so the surface resists fading under strong sun, and the seamless finish drains and cleans easily. For very sunny areas we can advise on lighter colours and shade so the surface stays cooler and comfortable for small children.

Questions
Kids play areas FAQs
What thickness of EPDM does a playground need?
The thickness is set by the critical fall height of the play equipment: taller equipment needs a thicker cushioning layer to protect children during falls. We assess the equipment on site and specify the correct depth, rather than applying a one-size figure.
Is EPDM surfacing safe for young children?
Yes. Wet-pour EPDM is designed as a safety surface: it absorbs impact from falls, is seamless with no trip edges, and is non-slip and easy to clean. The correct thickness for your equipment is what makes it genuinely protective.
Can you add colours, patterns and games to the surface?
Yes. EPDM comes in many colours, and we can build in pathways, hopscotch, numbers, roadways and themed designs. Because the colour runs through the granule, these features stay bright as the surface is used.
Can you install during school holidays?
Yes, and we often do. Wet-pour installation needs suitable conditions and curing time, so we plan the programme around a holiday window where possible, so the play area is ready and safe for when children return.
How long does EPDM take to install and cure?
Wet-pour EPDM is laid in layers and needs suitable conditions and curing time before use, so a play area is typically ready a short period after pouring. We confirm the programme for your site and plan around holidays where we can.
